この曲はスティングの曲の中でもかなり、カントリー/ブルーグラス色の強い曲である。
カントリー界のレジェンド、ジョニー・キャッシュがカバー
ジョニー・キャッシュは、2002年のアルバム『American IV, The Man Comes Around』でこの曲を録音した。キャッシュは「兄のライフルは小川に突っ込んだ」という歌詞を「兄のライフルは岩山に突っ込んだ」に変え、「塩の地」を「南の地」と変えている。スティングは、これは誤植によるものだと推測しているが、それでも「自分の歌詞と音楽を『巨匠』が解釈してくれたことをとても誇りに思う」と『Lyrics By Sting』に書いている。
